Allowance to Ships' Cooks and Stewards in Ships in the Fleet Reserve

Whereas, owing to the necessity that exists for keeping vessels of Your Majesty's Navy in the Fleet Reserve in a high state of efficiency, small crews are detailed as care and maintenance parties, who in some instances sleep and are victualled on board these vessels ;

And whereas this necessitates the issue and cooking of provisions ;

We beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the following allowances, viz. ; -

An allowance of sixpence a day to the persons acting as Ship's Cook and Ship's Steward (or Ship's Steward's Assistant) respectively, in these vessels.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals,
