Re-Engaged Pay to Marines Transferred to the Seaman Class of the Navy after Completing 12 Years' Combined Service

Admiralty Order in Council No. 110.

6th March, 1896.

N.

Whereas under Article 1461 of the Regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service it is provided that continuous service men of the Seaman Class who re-engage after completing their first period of service shall receive re-engaged pay of 2d. a day ; and

Whereas we are of opinion that this provision should be extended to men of Your Majesty's Royal Marine Forces who may be transferred to the Seaman Class of Your Majesty's Navy ;

We beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to approve of men of the Royal Marines who have already been and shall subsequently be so transferred receiving re-engaged pay of 2d. a day after completing 12 years' combined service in the Royal Marine Forces and in the Royal Navy, exclusive of service with character below "Fair" in the Royal Marine Forces ;

Provided that in no case shall such re-engaged pay commence before the date of receiving a Seaman Class rating.

This Order to take effect from 1st January, 1896, only, in respect of any payment of Re-engaged Pay.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have concurred in this proposal.
