Special Ratings of Steward and Cook to be included in certain Ships' Complements at Admiralty Discretion

Ward Room, Allowances Extended to Store Ships, &c., &c.

Allowance to Lamptrimmer on Store Ship "Tyne".

Admiralty Order in Council No. 114

A.G.

6 March, 1896.

Whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable in the interests of Your Majesty's Naval Service that we should be enabled to decide, at our discretion, what Vessels should include in their complements the special ratings of Captains and Cabin Steward and Captain's and Cabin Cook which have hitherto been restricted by Your Majestys Order in Council, dated 19 March, 1883, to Your Majesty's Despatch Vessels; the latter rating being now specially required in Your Majesty's Store Ship "Tyne";

2. And whereas we are also of opinion that the Allowances to the Ward Room Mess and Ward Room Servants sanctioned by Your Majesty's Order in Council, dated 21 March, 1890, for two of Your Majesty's Store Ships should be permitted to be extended, at our discretion, to any Store Ship that may be Commissioned ;

3. And whereas we are further of opinion that the Allowance payable in Your Majesty's Troop Ships under Appendix VI. of the Regulations governing Your Majesty's Naval Service should continue to be paid to the Lamptrimmer of Your Majesty's Store Ship " Tyne " as his work will correspond with that of a Lamptrimmer on board a Troop Ship ;

We beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council, to sanction the foregoing proposals, to take effect from 3 September 1895.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence herein.
