Pay of Retired Commanders Undergoing Instruction in Torpedo and Gunnery
|
Admiralty Order in Council No. 115
6 March, 1896.
A.G.
Whereas Your Majesty was graciously pleased by Your Order in Council dated 1st May 1890 to approve of Retired Commanders being allowed to undergo instruction in Torpedo and Gunnery and to receive while under training, in lieu of their Retired Pay, one pound a day, and allowances, subject to reduction, in the cases of Officers who have commuted their Retired Pay, and whereas we are of opinion that in cases when the Retired Pay of these Officers exceeds their Full Pay, they should not, while engaged in acquiring professional knowledge, suffer any pecuniary loss ;
We beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction in such cases the payment of Retired Pay, if in excess of Full Pay, to those Officers during the period of training, and that this regulation should take effect from 1st April 1895.
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal,
N.P. 587 / 1896.
