Allowance to Inspector of Machinery in charge of Naval and Reserve duties at Hong Kong Yard

Admiralty Order in Council No. 121
29 June, 1896.
A.G.
Whereas we have had under consideration the desirability of assimilating the arrangements in the Engineer's Department at Hong Kong Dockyard to those at present in force at Malta, under which the Dockyard duties are separated from the Naval and Reserve duties, the former being under the charge of the Chief Engineer of the Yard, and the latter under that of an Inspector of Machinery, R.N. ; and whereas we are of opinion that, in view of the responsible duties devolving upon the latter officer, he should receive the same allowance, viz., 3s. a day, as that paid to the officer performing similar duties at Malta, sanctioned by Your Majesty's Order in Council, 4 March, 1884, we beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by your Order in Council to sanction the payment of this allowance to the Inspector of Machinery (or any Engineer Officer who may hereafter be appointed) at Hong Kong, from the date on which the officer commenced to perform the duties.
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
N.P. 1518 / 1896.
