Retired Pay of the Chaplain of the Fleet
|
Admiralty Order in Council No. 135.
N,
27th November, 1896.
Whereas by Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 7th day of March 1887, an increase of Retired Pay was granted to the Officer holding the. appointment of Chaplain of the Fleet, at the rate of ten pounds for each year's service in that Office up to five years, the total amount of Retired Pay not to exceed five hundred pounds a year ;
And whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable to remove the limitation thereby imposed upon the amount of service which can be reckoned for increase of Retired Pay, but that the present maximum of five hundred pounds a year should not be exceeded ;
We therefore beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by your Order in Council to sanction the substitution of the following regulation for that established by paragraph 3 of Your Order in Council of 7th March 1887 : -
"An increase of Retired Pay at the rate of ten pounds a year (in addition to any increase this Officer would have obtained as Chaplain) to be granted for each year's service in this office, provided that the total amount of Retired Pay does not exceed five hundred pounds a year."
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have concurred in this proposal.
