Command Money to Officers Commanding Tenders to Coast Guard Ships, &c.

Admiralty Order in Council No. 143

26 February, 1897.

A.G.

Whereas by Appendix XVII., page 971, of the Regulations established in 1893 for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service, the following scale of Command money is laid down .

  a day.
  s. d.
Commander when in command of a sea-going Ship or Tender, 3 9
Commander when in command of a Harbour Ship or Tender, 2 6
Lieutenant when in independent command of any Ship, or in command of any Tender to a sea-going Ship, 3 9
Lieutenant when in command of any Tender to a Harbour or Coast Guard Ship 2 6

And whereas Tenders to Coastguard Ships and Torpedo Boat Destroyers attached as Tenders for instructional purposes to Harbour Ships whether at home or abroad, are constantly at sea.

We are of opinion that Officers commanding these vessels should receive the rate of command money for sea-going tenders, viz., 3s. 9d. day in lieu of 2s. 6d. a day as heretofore.

We beg leave therefore humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased to sanction payment of the increased rate above specified from the 1st April 1897.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
