Increase of Retired Pay to Director-General Medical Department, and Special Retiring Allowance to Sir J. N. Dick, late M.D.G.

Whereas we have had under consideration the position of the Director General of the Medical Department of the Navy as regards Retired Pay and,
Whereas, under the Regulations, there is no provision for his receiving on retirement a higher rate of retired pay than that due to his rank as Inspector General of Hospitals and Fleets, viz. : �730 a year.
We would most humbly submit for the approval of Your Majesty, the following proposals, viz. : -
- That an increase of Retired pay at the rate of �50 a year be granted (in addition to his Retired pay as Inspector General in Your Majesty's Fleet), for each year's service in this Office, the total of Retired pay allowed, not, however, to exceed �960 a year.
- That a special retiring allowance of �1,000 a year be granted to Sir James Nicholas Dick, K.C.B., Honorary Surgeon to Your Majesty, from 1st April. 1898, in recognition of his very eminent services while holding this appointment during the past 10 years.
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have concurred in these proposals.
