Gunners in charge of Ordnance Stores in Torpedo Boats at Naval Manoeuvres or other Services - Allowance of 6d. a day

Admiralty Order in Council No. 27.

20th October 1898

A.G.

Whereas Your Majesty was graciously pleased by Your Order in Council of 1st May 1890 to sanction payment of a special allowance of sixpence a day to Torpedo Gunners of the Reserve for charge of the Accounts of Naval Ordnance Stores in Torpedo Boats commissioned to take part in the Naval Manoeuvres;

And whereas it has been found necessary to revise these arrangements ;

And whereas we are of opinion -

(a) That the Naval Ordnance Stores in Torpedo Boats mobilized for the Naval Manoeuvres or other services should be placed in charge of a Gunner (Torpedo or

otherwise),

(b) That the Gunner should be granted the same Store Allowance (at various rates according to rank or service) as that sanctioned by Your Majesty's Order in Council of 6th March 1896 to Warrant Officers when in charge of their own stores in seagoing ships in Commission.

We beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction these arrangements ; to take effect from the 8th March 1897.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.

I.C. 3408 / 1898.
