Marines employed as Tailors in giving Instructions in Sewing to Ordinary Seamen and Boys in the Training Squadron - Payment of 6d. a day

Admiralty Order in Council No. 36.

29th November 1898.

A.G.

Whereas we have had under our consideration the question of granting additional remuneration to the Marines employed as Tailors in giving instruction in sewing to Ordinary Seamen and Boys in the Training Squadron :

And whereas it appears to us desirable that the men in question should receive an allowance of sixpence a day.

We humbly beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction payment of this allowance both to Marines, and to men holding the substantive rating of Tailor, who may be hereafter similarly employed in the Training Squadron in lieu of Marines, and we would further recommend that payment should take effect from 1st July 1898.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N.P. 2867 / 1898.
