Services of R.N.R. Officers in War Vessels of any British Protectorate being allowed to reckon for Promotion

Admiralty Order in Council No. 41.

2nd February 1899.

N.

Whereas Your Majesty was graciously pleased by Your Order in Council of the 29th of June 1895 to sanction the services of Officers of the Royal Naval Reserve on board War Vessels belonging to the British Central African Protectorate being allowed to reckon for promotion :

And whereas we are of opinion that this rule should be extended to Officers of the Royal Naval Reserve serving under any British Protectorate in any armed vessel belonging to, or employed in the service of the Protectorate.

We therefore beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction service of Officers of the Royal Naval Reserve under any British Protectorate in any Armed Vessel belonging to, or employed in the service of the Protectorate, being allowed to count for promotion, such order to take effect from the 1st January 1899, and not to be retrospective.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
