Whereas by Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 18th May 1897 a new class of Engineer Warrant Officer was established under the title of Artificer Engineer :
And whereas no provision is made, in the Regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Navy, for payment of extra pay to this class of officer while employed on manual labour in repairing the machinery or boilers or upon other engineering work of ships :
We beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction extra pay, at the rate of 4s. a day, being paid to these officers while so employed :
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence herein.
