Flag Allowances to Paymasters in Home Flag Ships, to be Depot or Reserve Allowances in Future - Allowance extended to Paymaster in Gunnery Ship at Sheerness

Whereas by Article 1432 of the Regulations for the Government of Your Majesty's Naval Service, an allowance of five shillings a day is payable to the Accountant Officers of the Flagships of the several Commanders-in-Chief at Home, in respect of the arduous nature of their duties, which are now no longer carried out in the Flagships, but in the Depots ; and

Where by Article 1433 of the aforesaid Regulations, an allowance of five shillings a day is payable to the Accountant Officers of the Gunnery Depot Ships at Portsmouth and Devonport, in consideration of the duties they perform ; and

Whereas we are desirous of extending this allowance to the Gunnery Ship at Sheerness ;

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the following proposals, viz. : -

  1. To modify Article 1433 of the Regulations so as to admit of the payment thereunder to the Accountant Officers of the Depots at the three Home Ports, of the allowance of five shillings a day now payable under Article 1432 to the Paymasters of the Flagships at those Ports ; and
  2. To extend the provisions of Article 1433 to meet the case of the Paymaster of the Gunnery Ship at Sheerness by sanctioning payment to him of the allowance of five shillings a day payable to Paymasters of the Gunnery Depot Ships at Portsmouth and Devonport.

These changes to take effect from 1st April 1899.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
