Extension of Full Pay leave to Officers serving Abroad who have official Residences allotted to them, or who are in receipt of Allowances for House Rent

Admiralty Order in Council No. 64.

4 July 1899.

Whereas under Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 19th day of May, 1898, the privilege of leave of absence on Full Pay granted to certain Naval Officers on their return from Foreign Stations, was extended to all Commissioned Officers below the rank of Flag Officer, and to Warrant Officers of Your Majesty's Navy :

And whereas we are of opinion that the privilege should be further extended to officer serving abroad who have official residences allotted to them, or who are in receipt of allowances for house rent ;

We humbly recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to direct that all Commissioned Officers below Flag Rank and Warrant Officers of Your Majesty's Navy serving abroad, who have official residences allotted to them, or who have been in receipt of allowances for house rent, (whether borne on Ships' Books or not during their Foreign Service), shall be eligible for leave on Full Pay under the same conditions as apply to officers serving afloat.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal, to which it is proposed to give effect from the First day of July, 1899.
