Special Allowance of £100 per annum to Engineer Officers of the Rank of Chief Inspector or Inspector of Machinery for Service Afloat

Admiralty Order in Council No. 108 .

29 June 1900.

A.G.

Whereas we have found it expedient of late to appoint Engineer Officers of the rank of Chief Inspector, or Inspector, of Machinery for service in Your Majesty's Ships afloat with a view to the increase of efficiency in the working of modem machinery, and

Whereas we are of opinion that the ordinary pay of these Officers when so appointed is insufficient in consideration of the difficulty and responsibility of their work.

We most humbly beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the payment of a special allowance of £100 per annum in all cases where we shall consider the appointment of such officers necessary.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their assent to this proposal.

N.P. 2042 / 1900.
