Continuance of Command Money at 12s. a day to Captain of R.N. Barracks, Devonport, also allowance of £125 in lieu of servants to Captain of Gunnery School, Sheerness, and Captain of R.N. Barracks, Devonport

Admiralty Order in Council No. 109

29th June 1900.

A.G.

Whereas the duties of Flag Captain at Devonport have hitherto been performed by the Captain of the Royal Naval Barracks who has received Command Money at 12s. a day, the rate payable to Flag Captains under the regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service ;

And whereas it has appeared to us expedient that this Officer's duties as Flag Captain should be transferred to the Captain of the Port Guard Ship ;

And whereas this transfer will involve the reduction of the Command Money of the Captain of the Royal Naval Barracks to 5s. a day, the rate payable to Captains on full pay but not in command of one of Your Majesty's Ships.

We beg leave humbly to recommend that in view of the importance of the duties devolving upon the Captain of the Royal Naval Barracks, Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the continuance of Command Money at 12s. a day to the officer filling the post ;

We would further recommend that the Captain of the Gunnery School at Sheerness (who has similarly been relieved of the duties of Flag Captain), and the Captain of the Royal Naval Barracks at Devonport, shall continue to receive the allowance in lieu of servants of £125 a year, granted to them as Flag Captains under Order in Council of 19 May 1899.

The foregoing arrangements to take effect from 26 October 1899 as regards Sheerness and from 9 March 1900 as regards Devonport.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.

N.P 2041 / 1900.
