Whereas we have hid under consideration the pay and position of the Engineer Officer in charge of Reserve Stores at Hong Kong ;

And whereas we are of opinion that, in consideration of the responsible nature of his duties he should be paid an allowance of 1s. a day ;

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction payment of the same from 11 December 1899, and, further, to authorise us to award the allowance in future to any Engineer Officer similarly employed when, in our opinion, the duties are of sufficient importance to justify its payment.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
