Extension of O.-in-C. of 29 November 1898 as to training Boys in the Dockyards for the rating of Shipwright in H.M. Navy

Admiralty Order in Council No. 149

25th March 1901.

N.

Whereas by an Order in Council of Her late Majesty, bearing date the Twenty-ninth day of November 1898, special measures were approved for training Boys in Your Majesty's Dockyards for the rating of Shipwright in Your Majesty's Navy.

And whereas we deem it expedient to extend this system so as to apply to Shipwrights trained as Apprentices and now serving in Your Majesty's Dockyards on the Hired or Established Lists, except that the time already served would reckon for civil pension in accordance with the usual rules, and not necessarily from the age of 18.

We therefore beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to authorise Us to extend the system accordingly.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
