Captain's Command Money - Amendment of Scale of
|
Admiralty Order in Council No. 159.
15th June 1901.
A.G.
Whereas we have had under consideration the Command Money payable to Captains in command of Your Majesty's Ships and Establishments, which is granted in consideration, of the expenses entailed in the command of Your Majesty's Ships, and depends, as regards rate, upon the complement of the ship which a Captain is appointed to command :
And whereas we are of opinion that the complement of a ship is no longer an accurate criterion of expense, and, therefore, that the basis of award should be, not complement, but class of ship ; also that the difference between the two rates of Command Money now payable in sea-going ships is too great, and that no Captain in command of a ship (whether sea-going or harbour) should receive a lower rate than 12s. a day :
And moreover, whereas we consider it undesirable to retain the special rates of pay now payable to the Captains of Your Majesty's Ships " Excellent," " Britannia," the Reserve Guard Ships, and the Royal Yacht :
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the abolition of these special rates of pay, and the substitution of the following scale of Command Money for that now in force, all increases to take effect from the date of Your Majesty's Order in Council, and any reductions from the same date, but only as regards appointments made subsequent to 5th March, 1901 :-
