Allowance for playing the Harmonium and conducting the Choir during Divine Service in Seagoing Ships extended to Ships commanded by a Commander

Admiralty Order in Council No. 169.

24 July 1901.

A.G.

Whereas by the Regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service, Article 1485(a), the allowance of two shillings a week payable to the person who plays the harmonium, or any other suitable instrument, and conducts the choir during Divine Service in sea-going ships is at present restricted to those commanded by a Captain.

And whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable to extend this allowance to certain ships which are allowed either a Captain or a Commander in Command.

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction payment of this allowance in such ships.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence herein.

N.P. 2487 / 1901.
