Commanders, Lieutenants, and District Paymasters of Coast Guard on Service on Shore - Increase of Subsistence allowance

Admiralty Order in Council No. 173.

26 September 1901.

A.G.

Whereas we have had under our consideration the rate of Subsistence Allowance, viz., Twelve shillings per day of twenty-four hours, at present paid to Commanders, Lieutenants and District Paymasters in Your Majesty's Coast Guard Service on Shore, which rate was authorised by Order in Council of Her late Majesty dated the 19th August 1889 ;

And whereas we are of opinion that the Officers referred to should receive Subsistence Allowance equivalent to that paid to Naval Officers of corresponding rank in Your Majesty's Service afloat viz., 15s. a day ;

We beg leave humbly to recommend that the Subsistence Allowance payable to these Officers be increased to Thirteen Shillings and Eight pence per day of 24 hours ;

We further beg leave to recommend that the said alteration should take effect from the 26th of July 1901 :

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
