Whereas we have had under our consideration the responsibility attaching to the position of the Senior Medical Officer on board a hospital ship :
And whereas the duties are of an exceptional character, and the position an unique one for a Naval Medical Officer serving afloat :
We humbly beg to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to empower us to grant, at our discretion, the following allowances to the Senior Medical Officers appointed by us in charge of recognised Hospital Ships.

This Order to take effect from 14th March, 1901.
