Retention of officers employed on Surveying Duties until the age of Sixty
|
Admiralty Order in Council No. 191
6 March 1902.
N.
Whereas we have had under consideration the position of certain Staff Commanders in Your Majesty's Navy who are employed on Surveying duties :
And whereas under the provisions of Her late Majesty's Order in Council of 22nd February, 1870, these Officers are liable to compulsory retirement on attaining the age of 55 unless they be promoted :
And whereas, with due regard to the claims of other Staff Commanders not employed on Surveying duties, there are no vacancies in which these Officers can be promoted before attaining the age for compulsory retirement; and it appears to us desirable in the present state of Your Majesty's Navy that they should be retained for a further period of Active Service :
We therefore most humbly recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to authorise us at our discretion to retain these Officers on the Active List until they attain the age of 60, provided their retention appears to us desirable in the interests of Your Majesty's Service.
The Lords Commissioners of your Majesty's Treasury have concurred in this proposal.
