Senior Lieutenants, R.N. - Increase in Pay

Admiralty Order in Council No. 192

6 March 1902.

A.G.

Whereas we have had under our consideration the question of improving the pay of the Senior Lieutenants of Your Majesty's Navy;

And whereas we are satisfied that the present rate of pay for Lieutenants of 13 years' seniority and over (viz., 14s. a day) is inadequate ;

We humbly beg to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the following rates of pay as from 1st April 1902, viz. :-

    a day.
Lieutenants Of 13 years' seniority and 10 years' service of which 6 have been in a Ship of War at Sea 15s.
Of 14 years* seniority and 11 years' service of which 6 have been in a Ship of War at Sea 16s.
Lieutenants in the independent command of any tender Of 13 years' seniority under above conditions as to service 16s.
Of 14 years' seniority under above conditions as to service 17s.

with the following exception, that in the case of Lieutenants holding Coast Guard appointments a corresponding reduction shall be made in the visiting duty allowance of these Officers, so that there shall be no increase in their present total emoluments.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
