Admiralty Order in Council No. 196 .
24 March 1902.
A.G.
Whereas we have had under our consideration the question of the excessive wear and tear of uniform consequent upon the duties performed by the Assistant Coaling Officers at Sheerness, Portland, Portsmouth and Devonport ;
And whereas we are satisfied that the cost of washing, and the damage to clothes due to the continuous nature of the employment is considerable ;
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction, as from the 1st January 1902, the payment of an allowance of 10s. a month (6 a year) to each of the Officers.
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
N.P. 1009 / 1902.
