Increased rate of pension to Chief Petty Officers

Admiralty Order in Council No. 9.

16 February 1903.

N.

Whereas under present Regulations the Chief Petty Officers of Your Majesty's Navy receive additions to the pensions awarded them as Seamen at the same rate as First Class Petty Officers.

And whereas we are of opinion that the superior position and increased responsibility of Chief Petty Officers should be recognised by their being granted such additions at a higher rate than First Class Petty Officers.

We therefore humbly beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the grant to all Chief Petty Officers who may be pensioned on or after the First April 1903, of an allowance of d. a day for every year served in the rating of Chief Petty Officer subsequent to the completion of the first period of Continuous Service Engagement, in addition to the allowances to which they are entitled under existing Regulations.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.

N. 8460 / 1903.
