Course of Instruction in Strategy and Tactics established for Flag Officers at R.N. College, Greenwich


Admiralty Order in Council No. 28.

20 May 1903.

Whereas, by Order in Council of Her late Majesty bearing date the 12 November 1900, sanction was given to the establishment at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich, of a Full Pay Course of Instruction in Strategy and Tactics for Captains and Commanders of Your Majesty's Fleet :

And whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable to grant facilities to Flag Officers for undergoing a similar course of instruction :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the establishment at the Royal Naval College of a Course of Instruction in Strategy and Tactics specially adapted to the requirements of Flag Officers under the following regulations : �

  1. Flag Officers attending the Course to receive �
    1. The difference between their full and half pay.
    2. The Mess allowance of 1s. 6d. a day established by Order in Council of Her late Majesty bearing date the 11th August 1884.
    3. In the event of accommodation not being available for a Flag Officer who requires it, lodging allowance to be paid at the rate laid down for Captains in Article 1532 of the Regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service, viz., 4s. 6d. a day.
  2. The period of attendance at the Course to reckon as half-pay time.
  3. A Captain and two Commanders to be employed, if necessary, to assist the Officer conducting the Course.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
