Grant of a Bonus to Winners of the Good Shooting Medal at Annual Prize Firing


Admiralty Order in Council No. 28a.

20 May 1903.

Whereas in order to afford further encouragement to good shooting in Your Majesty's Fleet, Your Majesty has been graciously pleased to approve of the institution of a Medal in connection with the Annual Prize Firing with Heavy Guns and Light Q.F. Guns to be granted to the best shot with each nature of gun in each ship in commission, provided he obtain the standard laid down by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty :

And whereas we are of opinion that this Medal should be accompanied by a bonus :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction, as from the 1st January 1903, the allowances shown in the following Schedule :�

Description of Allowance. Amount.
Annual Prize Firing : �  
Petty Officers and Seamen of the Fleet, and Non-Commissioned Officers and Men of Royal Marines. For the best shot for each nature of gun in each ship in commission, providing the approved standard is reached.
(a) For Turret or Barbette gun 3
(b) For secondary armament 2
(c) For light Q.F. Guns 1

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
