Royal Marine Officers as Instructors on the Staff of the Torpedo Schools — Allowance to

Admiralty Order in Council No. 36.

11th August 1903.

N.

Whereas we have found it necessary to appoint an officer of Your Majesty's Royal Marines to the Staff of the Torpedo School at Portsmouth for the purpose of instructing officers and men in Wireless Telegraphy :

And whereas we are of opinion that an allowance should be granted to this officer and to any officer of the Royal Marines employed in this manner, as an inducement to such officers to qualify in the higher branches of Wireless Telegraphy, and as a remuneration for their services as Instructors :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction an allowance of 2s. 6d. a day, in addition to full pay, being paid to officers of Your Majesty's Royal Marines who may be employed as Instructors on the Staff of the Torpedo Schools, the same to take effect from the 1st July 1903.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N 11271 / 1903.
