Admiralty Order in Council No. 46.
9th October 1903.
A.G.
Whereas by Order in Council of Her late Majesty bearing date the 3rd March 1900, an allowance of sixpence a day for charge of Medical Stores is payable to Chief Sick Berth Stewards when acting as Wardmasters in Royal Naval Hospitals, and by the same Order in Council this rating is restricted to Royal Naval Hospitals, Sea-going Flag Ships and Home Depot Ships.
And whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable to extend this rating with the allowance to the Hospital Ship " Maine " and to any other ship that may be commissioned for similar service.
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction this arrangement.
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
N.P. 3852 / 1903.
