Sick Berth Staff — Increased Clothing Gratuity to Men finally accepted for service in

Admiralty Order in Council No. 54.

16th November 1903.

N.

Whereas under existing regulations men entered for service in the Sick Berth Staff of Your Majesty's Navy receive, on successfully passing their probationary period, a gratuity of £2 10s. towards the cost of their clothing :

And whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable still further to assist these men to procure their outfit by increasing the gratuity to £9, the rate payable to certain other classes of men on joining Your Majesty's Navy :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction payment accordingly to men who are finally accepted for service in the Sick Berth Staff of Your Majesty's Navy, this regulation to take effect as from the 17 October 1903.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N. 16265 / 1903.
