Pensioners employed at Pigeon Lofts — Rates of pay

Admiralty Order in Council No. 58.

29th January 1904.

N.

Whereas we have had under consideration the Staff required in connection with the Pigeon Service section of the Signal Branch of Your Majesty's Fleet :

And whereas we are of opinion that until trained Active Service ratings are available to man the Pigeon Lofts, it is desirable to employ qualified Pensioners at special rates of pay on this duty :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the grant of the following rates of pay (inclusive of provision allowance) to the Pensioners at present employed at the Pigeon Lofts, and to such other Pensioners as it may be necessary to enter for this special service, pending the employment of trained Active Service ratings for the duty :

Pensioner Petty Officer in charge 4s. 4d. a day.
Pensioner Seamen or Marines 4s. 0d. a day.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N 1604 / 1904.
