Boatswains qualified in Gunnery and Torpedo — Allowance to, when performing duties of a Gunner or Gunner (T.)

Admiralty Order in Council No. 63.

7th March 1904.

N.

Whereas by an Order in Council of Her late Majesty bearing date the 6th March 1896, provision was made for the payment of an allowance of one shilling a day to Gunners and Gunners (T) holding Second Class Certificates in Gunnery or Torpedo :

And whereas we are of opinion that Boatswains who have undergone a course of training in Gunnery and Torpedo should be eligible to receive a similar allowance when employed upon Gunnery or Torpedo duties :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the payment of an allowance of one shilling a day to Boatswains who have qualified in Gunnery or Torpedo while employed on the duties of a Gunner or Gunner (T) respectively in a temporary vacancy when an officer of one of these ranks is not borne.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N. 3495 / 1904.
