Engineer Officers — Regulations governing retirement for non-service amended

Admiralty Order in Council No. 72.

7th March 1904.

N.

Whereas we have had under consideration the existing regulations which govern the compulsory retirement for non-service of Officers of the Engineer Branch of Your Majesty's Fleet:

And whereas we are of opinion that, in view of the recent changes in the conditions of service of Engineer Officers, these regulations should now be revised :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the following rules to regulate retirement for non-service in the case of all Engineer Officers in future promoted to the ranks mentioned.

Engineer Rear-Admirals.

To be retired so soon as three and a half years have elapsed since their last service in the rank, or if they have not thus served, upon the expiration of three and a half years from date of promotion or five years since their last service as Engineer Captain.

Engineer Captains, Engineer Commanders and Engineer Lieutenants.

To be retired as soon as three years have elapsed since their last service in their existing rank, or, if they have not thus served, upon the expiration of three years from date of promotion.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.

N. 3569 / 1904.
