Reduced Allowance to Boatswains qualified in the Second Class in Gunnery or Torpedo while performing duties of a Gunner or Gunner (T.)

Admiralty Order in Council No. 84.
10th August 1904.
N.
Whereas Your Majesty, by Your Order in Council of the 7th March 1904, was graciously pleased to approve of the payment of an allowance of 1s, a day to Boatswains who have qualified in Gunnery or Torpedo while employed on the duties of a Gunner or Gunner (T.) respectively in a temporary vacancy when an Officer of one of these ranks is not borne.
And whereas the arrangements for Boatswains thus to qualify result in the Officers being formed into two classes according to the standard of proficiency attained, and we consider it desirable that a Boatswain who has been placed in the lower or Second class should be paid an allowance of 8d. a day only when employed on the duties of a Gunner or Gunner (T.).
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to approve of the payment of an allowance of 8d. a day to Boatswains who have qualified in the Second class in Gunnery or Torpedo while employed on the duties of a Gunner or Gunner (T.) respectively in a temporary vacancy when an Officer of one of these ranks is not borne.
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
N. 10371 / 1904.
