Establishment of New Ratings of Hall Porter and Second Hall Porter at R.N. Barracks

Whereas difficulty has been experienced in obtaining Pensioners to carry out the duties of Hall Porters at the Royal Naval Barracks, &c. at the Naval Ports :

And whereas we consider it desirable to establish the post of Hall Porter as a substantive rating (non-continuous service) for the employment of pensioners, carrying with it a specific rate of pay :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to approve of the following new Non-Continuous Service Substantive Ratings being established as from the 15 August 1904, for Naval or Marine Pensioners employed at the Royal Naval Barracks, &c., viz. : �

  Pay.
  s. d.  
Hall Porter (Chief Petty Officer) 2 6 a day.
Second Hall Porter (Petty Officer) 2 0 do

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
