Conditions for Entry and Promotion of Accountant Officers.

Appointment of Junior Officers from other Branches of R.N.

Admiralty Order in Council No. 105.

27th March 1905.

N.

Whereas by an Order in Council of Her late Majesty bearing date the 12th January 1891, it was provided that the age of entry for Officers of the Accountant Branch of Your Majesty's Naval Service should be not less than 16 and not more than 18, and that such Officers should be eligible for promotion to the rank of Assistant Paymaster at the age of 21:

And whereas we consider it desirable that the entry and promotion of Officers in the Accountant Branch should be determined by such service and limits of age as we may think fit :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to approve of the entry of Accountant Officers and the appointment of Junior Officers, already serving in other Branches of Your Majesty's Navy, to the Accountant Branch under such conditions as we may determine, also that the promotion of Accountant Officers to the rank of Assistant Paymaster may be effected after such service from the date of their entry into the Royal Navy, and subject to their complying with such regulations as we may lay down and promulgate from time to time.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N. 4572 / 1905.
