Addition to Pensions of Chief Petty Officers transferred from R.M. to R.N.

Admiralty Order in Council No. 116.

7th August 1905.

A.G.

Whereas Your Majesty by Your Order in Council of the 16 February 1903 was graciously pleased to sanction the grant to all Chief Petty Officers who became eligible for pension on or after the 1 April 1903 of an allowance of one halfpenny a day for every year served in the rating of Chief Petty Officer subsequent to the completion of the first period of their Continuous Service engagement, in addition to the Allowances to which they were otherwise entitled :

And whereas, under the Regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service time served in the Corps of Your Majesty's Royal Marines cannot reckon as part of a Continuous Service Engagement :

And whereas we consider it desirable that Chief Petty Officers who have been transferred from the Royal Marines to Your Majesty's Naval Service should be granted the additional Allowance of one halfpenny a day under conditions similar to those obtaining for other Chief Petty Officers :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the grant, as from the 1 April 1903, to all Chief Petty Officers who have been transferred from the Royal Marines to the Royal Navy when pensioned, of this additional Allowance of one halfpenny a day for every year served in the rating of Chief Petty Officer subsequent to the completion of twelve years' combined service from the age of eighteen in Your Majesty's Corps of Royal Marines and Naval Service.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
