Whereas by the Regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service certain Seamen Boys under Training are specially selected to act as Chief Petty Officer and Petty Officer Boys, and are granted a small weekly allowance in recognition of the duties of their superior position :

And whereas we consider it desirable in the interests of discipline that a similar system should be adopted in the case of Boys undergoing Training for the position of Artificer in Your Majesty's Navy :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to authorise us to grant to Boy Artificers selected to act as Chief Petty Officer Boys or Petty Officer Boys weekly allowances at the following rates, viz. : —

Chief Petty Officer Boys - 4d. a week.

Petty Officer Boys 3d. a week.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
