Allowances to Flag Officers attending Course of Instruction in Strategy and Tactics — Amendment of. Separate War Course for such Officers discontinued

Admiralty Order in Council No. 122.

23rd October 1905.

N.

Whereas by Your Majesty's Order in Council bearing date the 20th May 1903, Your Majesty was pleased to approve of a Course of Instruction in Strategy and Tactics being established for Flag Officers, under the following regulations as to pay and allowances : —

Flag Officers attending the Course to receive —

  1. the difference between their full and half pay.
  2. the Mess Allowance of 1s. 6d. a day established by Order in Council of Her late Majesty bearing date the 11th August 1884.
  3. in the event of accommodation not being available for a Flag Officer who requires it, lodging allowance to be paid at the rate laid down for Captains in Article 1532 of the Regulations for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service, viz., 4s. 6d. a day.

And whereas we consider it advisable to discontinue a separate War Course for Flag Officers and to provide for their attendance at Courses already established for Captains and Commanders, the number of Flag Officers allowed to attend these Courses being limited to twelve a year or such number as may be approved from time to time by the Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury, and also that instead of the emoluments stated under (a) and (b), Flag Officers attending the Course should receive, in addition to the half pay of their rank, an allowance of 15s. a day, inclusive of the Mess Allowance :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to approve of the conditions of the before-mentioned Order in Council being varied as proposed and of the emoluments of Flag Officers attending the course being rearranged accordingly as from the 29 August 1905.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N. 11950 / 1905.
