Acquisition of Knowledge of Foreign Languages by Officers of the R.N. and R.M. — Additions to list of languages for which special allowances and gratuities are payable

Whereas by Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 7th March 1904 certain regulations were approved with a view to encouraging the acquisition of a knowledge of Foreign languages by Officers of Your Majesty's Navy and Royal Marines :

And whereas we consider it desirable that the Schedule specifying the Foreign Languages affected by these regulations should be amended so as to include Turkish, Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the substitution of the annexed Schedule for that accompanying the Order in Council above referred to.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.
