In 1914 HMS DRAKE was based on Portsmouth and lead a group of ships within the Third Fleet. Her Commanding Officer at this time was Captain Bentinck J D Yelverton

Inset: Rear Admiral HSH Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg, GCB, ADC, KCMG, GCVO: was promoted Admiral 13 July 1912 and appointed Personal Naval Aide-de-Camp to the King 9 Dec 1912
