The "Patroclus" ashore at Blacknor, Portland on 13 Sep 1907


The steamer Patroclus, 5,500 gross tons, Ocean Steamship Company, bound from Brisbane with general cargo, went ashore in fog on the morning of the 13th, near Blacknor Point. Tugs were sent to her assistance, but were, for the present, unable to move her, thou' she was subsequently salvaged - see www.isleofportlandpictures.org.uk/ShipWrecks/ for picture.
