Barbette Guns Trained on the Beam
|
5 Jan, 1907 it is reported that the Admiralty have issued an order directing that when independent turret drill is being carried out - that is to say, when the ship's company are not at stations for "exercise action " - a sentry is to be posted for the purpose of keeping men clear of any turret that is being worked. This order is the sequel to a recent accident, in which a man was caught and crushed between the rear part of the gunhouse of a turret and the depression rail on the quarter-deck.
