The Descendants of Pierre Francois Briand

This genealogy is dedicated to all the Briands who hope to find the family they belong to. My inspiration for all the family history was fueled by my mother , who did not know who all her family members were, to my Grand mother, Rufine Briand Bonin and to her father Pierre-Norbert Briand, who came from families of substance in France, to live in Nova Scotia, far from the land of their birth. 

The Deportation in 1755 has been recorded by so many . The trials these ancestors endured are difficult to read about. The love of life, family , faith and home shines through each and every story. In a small way I can only try to piece together the families that are recorded here.

Pierre-Francois Briand was a Navigator and carpenter. His title was Sieur de al Villeroux. He received a blessing on 20 Dec 1706 at Parish of Parame, France.

She There is some debate as to the children from Louis Blacquiere, and the names and datesof his marriages. *Bona Arsenault, page 2068; Louis Blaquiere dit Le merle, married Jeanne Briand abt. 1752, their children; Pierre1762;Jean 1763. *Some records show Jeanne dead ca. 1764. **Colette Briand in Quebec has a lot of information she obtained from Miquelon, and St. Pierre. She found that none of Jeanne's children survived. She received a blessing circa 1732 at Port Toulouse, Cape Breton, NS.

He Joseph Briand was a soldier at Louisbourg. Pat Burke wrote that he was a prisoner in England. The family were deported to LaRochelle in 1778, were in Miquelon in 1783 and 1784. He received a blessing circa 1737 at Port Toulouse, Cape Breton, NS. 

There were no children of Joseph⁷ Briand and Marguertie Savoie.

Bapt. sponsors : Jean Baptiste Briand and cousin Germain -Pierre .I also have that he died in La Rochelle, 1783, the latter data came from reliable sources too, but Colette Briand has done a lot of research on this family, so until I find a better source, I shall record hers. He 1999 data from Colette Briand of Quebec , shows records with his name as Jean Baptiste.His death in 1832 , the day and month and place was from Paul Pate of L'Ardoise, Jean was a carpenter of ships. The child Genevieve was ( from my records) born in 1806, the first wife died in 1799, and the second marriage took place 1807. Until I have the correct data i will leave her here. He Pierre Norbert Briand, my great grand father, was given the two names, ( from S. White) at his baptism he went by Aime or Peter. He is buried in Mount Oluvet, Halifax, there is no marker, I found this out when I asked for his place of rest, they had him as Peter Briand. I have a picture my cousin Bob Forest gave me, given to him by our grand mother Rufine Briand Bona, Pierre's daughter.It is one of my treasures. Pierre married 4 times, most of his children died , one daughter from his first marriage, Lucie, married , but all of her children died . My father Walter Bona, told me that he remembers his grand father with a cart, he took it through the streets of Halifax, did odd jobs, cut geass , sharpened knives, that soet of thing, he also used the Indian ways of healing.He did not have black hair so common in the family, but light brown.
