MURPHYSBORO IL Tiona Caroline Pavey, 25, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at her residence in Murphysboro. She was born April 10, 1987, in Chester, the daughter of Donald R. Pavey and the late Cindy Lou (Eckert) Pavey. Tiona was a very loving and compassionate person that loved babies and animals. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her father, Donald R. Pavey of Murphysboro; one sister, Misty D. Pavey of Du Quoin; maternal grandfather, Richard F. Eckert, and maternal grandmother, Marlene D. Eckert, both of Rockwood; five uncles and one aunt, Clarence Eckert of Chester, Ed Pavey of St. Louis, Ginger and Kenneth Duty of Murphysboro, Rick Eckert of Mesa, Ariz., and David Eckert of Apache Junction, Ariz.; dear friends, Sheri and Garrett Cook and sons; and many great-aunts and great-uncles. After graduating from high school in St. Petersburg, Fla., John furthered his education at the University of Illinois and IIT, where he studied engineering. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1958 until being honorably discharged in February 1964. John was united in marriage to Karen Johansson on Oct. 7, 1961, in Oak Park, Ill. He worked as a structural engineer for many years in the Chicagoland area. For the last eight years, John and Karen had been residing in Winona. In his younger years, he achieved the honor of Eagle Scout, played football, began collecting stamps and was a lifeguard on the beaches of Chicago. John was a 31� Mason, past master of the Deerfield Lodge, and a member of the Glenbrook Shrine Club and the Winona Masonic Lodge. His life as a mason was his passion. Upon retirement, he was able to enjoy time with his grandchildren and continued to collect guns, swords and knives. Every day also included a moment of Ritz crackers and Skippy peanut butter. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Karen; four children, Theresa (Paul) Lueck of Winona, Michael Peavey of Pecos, N.M., Christina Peavey of Wheeling, Ill., and Robert (Ann) peavey of Huntley, Ill.; grandchildren, Adam, Megan, and Gretchen Lueck of Winona, Benjamin peavey of Huntley; sister, Janice (Wayne) Lassiter of San Mateo, Calif.; and two brothers, Henry peavey of Morton Grove, Ill., and Dennis (Dits) Peavey of Carmel, Calif. John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William; and sister, Jean. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, from4 to 6 p.m. at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service-Hansen Goodview Chapel at 3480 Service Drive in Goodview, Minn. Peavy, 75, of Port Lavaca, Texas, died Saturday, January 20, 1996. Mrs. Peavy was born January 23, 1920, at Elkville,(Illinois), daughter of Thomas B. and Ethel Romina Walters. Mrs. Peavy was a waitress. She was of Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was survived by one daughter, Sara R. Peavy of Port Lavaca, Texas; one son, George R. Peavy of Port Lavaca, Texas; granddaughter, Ginger Winkler of Houston, Texas; grandson, David E. Peavy of Fort Lavaca, Texas; two sisters, Catherine Terry of Tiden and Tessa Belle Armstrong of Port Lavaca, Texas; one brother, John A. Walters of Arcadia, Florida and nieces and nephews. GLASSFORD, IL Frank Peavy, Jr., age 58 of Glasford, passed away at 8:55P.M.Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his residence. He was born on April 20, 1952 in Pekin, IL to Frank and Wanda Stovall Peavy, Sr. Frank was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Fran E. Vlahovich on May 6, 1989 in Glasford. Frank is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Fran, his parents: Frank and Wanda Peavy, Sr. of Peoria, his children: Sgt. Frank (Kirsti) Peavy IV of Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, LA and Stephanie Dawn Peavy of Parrott, VA, his granddaughter: Holly Peavy, his step-grandson: Nicolas, his brothers: Gary L. (Lucy) Peavy and John J. (Wendy) Peavy, both of Peoria, his sister: Linda (Brian) Kerr of Chillicothe, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Jesse Earl Stovall and Lena Stovall; paternal grandparents: Frank Peavy and Marion Peavy Beatty and a sister-in-law. Frank was employed as a route salesman for Butternut Bread for several years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Glasford and St. Peter's Men's Singing Group. Frank enjoyed golfing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Funeral services will be at 11:00A.M.Monday, July 12, 2010 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. Jill Flynn officiating. DAWSON, IL M. �Lloyd� Peavy, 73 of Springfield, died at 12:51 am, Friday, July 15, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born September 13, 1937 in Santa Rosa County, Florida to Carlton and Dola Nelson Peavy. He married Connie Freeman on August 8, 1987 and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter Latisha Peavy of Memphis, TN; four sons, Paul (Janis) Peavy of Nashville, TN, Bob (Jamie) Sponsler of Dawson, Grady (Carla)( Peavy of Springfield and Jermey (Sirena) Bounds of Dawson; two grandsons; four granddaughters; one great grandchild; one sister, Virginia (Slim) Jackson of Castleberry, AL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents; three sisters; two brother and one son, Rodney Lloyd Peavy preceded him in death. He has been a resident of Springfield since the age of 17. He worked in construction and for C.A. Dawson. He retired from Electric Power Controls. Lloyd was a former Mason and former member of the Eagles Club. He was an avid NASCAR and Cardinal fan and enjoyed camping and fishing. Visitation: 4-6 pm, Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral Service: 1 pm, Monday, July 18, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Bob Green officiating. PEAVY SR., THOMAS EDWARD �TOM� ROCKFORD IL Thomas Edward 'Tom' Peavy Sr., 56, was carried to Heaven in the arms of the angels, at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in Swedish American Hospital, after suffering a heart attack and a long battle with terminal cancer. Born Nov. 18, 1947, in Rockford to Kenneth Sr. and Ardis Hall Peavy. His family, who has loving memories of him, includes his wife, Maxine (Marlowe) Peavy; children, Nancy (Anthony) Aquilar, Sinthia (Angel) Facio, Lisa Peavy, Anthony Marlowe, Thomas Peavy Jr.; siblings include, Kenneth Peavy Jr., Jeanette (Ricky) Chappell, Carol (Don) Mann and Gloria (Mike) Tavernie; eight grandchildren; and others. Predeceased by parents; sisters, Shirley, Irene and Virginia. Tom served six years (1968 to 1974) in the United States Army, and received a National Defense Service Medal and honorable discharge. He worked all of his life in Rockford, and was an honorable, loving person who never prejudged anyone. He will be missed, and will always be in our memories. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, in Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home, 304 N. Fifth St., where friends may call from noon to service time. The Rev. PEAVY, WANDA PEORIA, IL PEORIA � Wanda Peavy, 81, of Peoria, passed away , Friday, November 1, 2013, at UnityPoint Health � Methodist. Wanda was born on March 16, 1932, in Pekin, to Earl and Lena (Stainbrook) Stovall. She married Frank Peavy on September 24, 1949, in Pekin. He survives. She is also survived by three children, Gary Peavy of Peoria, Linda (Brian) Kerr of Chillicothe, and John (Wendy) Peavy of Peoria; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Showalter of Bartonville; and one daughter-in-law, Fran Peavy of Glasford. She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Peavy; daughter-in-law, Rose Peavy; and one brother. Wanda worked at Ben Schwartz Grocery Stores for 30 years. She later worked as a secretary at the Hearing Center in Peoria for 10 years. Funeral service will be at noon, Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Rev. Stephen Barch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Mary�s Cemetery, West Peoria. W. BENTON, ILL Headline: J.W. Pevey Killed in Car Wreck Near Benton. J.W. Pevey, Jr. age 28, was killed at 8 a.m. Wednesday, December 24th, 1942 three miles north of Benton on 70, near Shady Grove Station, while en route to Glenwood to spend Christmas holidays with his family here. He was alone. His 1941 Chrysler car left the pavement and struck a tree. The motor was forced backward into the body of the car, and he was crushed to death. Sheriff Ross McDonald, who with two members of the State Police, who investigated the accident, stated that Mr. Pevey went to sleep at the steering wheel. As soon as his identity was established, news of the accident was rushed to radio stations in Hot Springs, and an effort made to locate his wife. The shocking news was heard by Mrs. Pevey, from the radio at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sorrells, and immediately Mrs. Pevey and her mother left for Benton. His body was taken to the Astby(?) Funeral Home in Benton and later brought to Glenwood by Kelley Funeral Home. Mr. Pevey was en route from Centralia, Illinois where he was employed, and had planned to spend Christmas here with his wife and daughter, Martha Nell Pevey, and Mrs. and Mrs. Warren Sorrells. His parents were killed in car accidents several years ago, and he had no other relatives other than his wife and daughter. Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church here Friday morning at 10 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. E.H. Martin, pastor of the Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Henry Malof, pastor of the Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Russell Floyd, Hubert Crawford, Sam Cox, Roy Watkins, Robert Newcomb and Eris Lively. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery in charge of Kelley Funeral Home. Many sorrowing friends attended the funeral, where many beautiful flowers were tributes of sympathy and love for the bereaved ones, and the choir with Mrs. H.E. McKeown at the piano, rendered special selections, after which brother Martin brought a comforting message.
