PEVERLY POND
by Elaine Peverly
Tall trees to shade the path
Around sweet Peverly Pond,
Where we can stroll at leisurely pace,
And stop to see birds in trees beyond. |
Or sit on bench near
water’s edge
And watch the fish and ducks-
Watch the tiny animals scurry
Near bush and ferns so plush. |
And there in
unobtrusive blind-
Peek out to see them play,
Or find a tidbit sweet to eat
On this sunshiny day. |
Over there a
chipmunk skitters,
And birds swoop through the trees,
But as long as we are quiet
They run and swim and fly with ease. |
Just a quiet
place to be
Among God’s creatures all,
Away from the world’s bustle-
Here at Peverly Pond to call. |
