JOSEPH PAVEY - PIONEER



"Pavey, Joseph -- Victualler; embark'd 1736; lot 172 in Savannah. He had lycense to keep a publick house 2 Dec. 1736. He had leave to purchase this lot of Arthur Johnston 16 Aug. 1736, and paid 3 negroes with 10 pound sterl. for it: valued at 73 pounds sterl. In 1738 he left the town to settle at Augusta, where 14 June 1736 Mr. Oglethorp ordered him a lot of 500 acres."
