He died about 1782/1789. Richard was living (mentioned in father's will) in 1760. He was employed as cutler (surgical instrument maker) in 1760/1782 in 111 Bishopsgate Street, London.

There was a Richard Pepys who married Mary in 1754 in St Helens Bishopsgate and had child Elizabeth Hall in 1756; and a Richard Pepys who married Mary Sanderson in 1766 in St. Helens Bishopsgate and a Richard Pepys who married Molly in about 1767 in St. Helens Bishopsgate and had a child Moley (sic) in 1768. Any of these Richards could be the same Richard and Mary Sanderson and "Molly" could be the same person AP.

It would seem quite possible that this would be the Richard who was surgical instrument maker.
He was eldest son of John of St. Helens Bishopsgate. Richard was left 1/3 of his fathers estate. But His Uncle Richard was executor and was asked to organize appraisal of his goods and store. After death of Richard in 1781 Molly is shown in business directory.

There is a marriage of Richard Pepys and Mary in 1754. Boyd's marriage index has Mary Hall. And a Marriage of Richard Pepys and Mary in 1767. The children of Richard Pepys and "Molly" match the marriage of Richard and the second Mary.

WCP: has William Hasledine as child of Richard born 1698 to George and Grace. However there is a marriage in 1721 that woudl fit this Richard. It would make more sense for William Hasledine to be son of Richard Jr. b.1721 who was born in 1721 and married in 1746 which would fit William Hasledine's birth in 1748. The marriage of Richard and Elizabeth Waller could be a generation inbetween George and Richard (II).

It is interesting that William Hasledine seems to have taken up the same occuation as Richard Pepys son of John after 1782. One might have expected William Hasledine to be son of Richard and grandson of John the Cutler.

WCP does not give the names of this William's daughters, he just says " 7 daughters died young".
