Christmas Bread Pudding with Dip Myrtle Mae grew up during the depression years as so many did and this was a reciepie that was what made Christmas Christmas. From the Kitchen of: Mary Caylor Perkins Born Jan. 31, 1905 Died: November 10, 1992 1 quart bread crumbs soaked. (in milk) 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup molassas 1 tablespoon butter Melted 1 or 2 cups fruit. This can be either raisns, dates apples or cherries. 1 cup all purpose flour 1tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg pinch of ground cloves Mix the first 5 ingredients Then mix the dry ingredients together and stir into the first 5 mixture. Place in a well buttered top of a double boiler steam over hot water for 4 hours or until inserted knife comes out clean. Or wrap in cheese cloth and place in steamer. Serve with a sweet pudding or whipped cream.
Sweet Gravie for Topping 2 heaping Tablespoons of Flour 1/2 cup sugar mix with small amount of milk then add 1 1/2 cup milk Cook, stirring constantly until thickened. Add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tsp. of vanilla. There ya have it! Christmas Bread pudding with Dip.
